Ontira's technology innovations are setting new standards in Automated Traveler Information Systems (ATIS). Our technology is based on open architecture that is platform-independent and free of proprietary interfaces.
iEngine® Architecture
Ontira's iEngine integrates all media options into a single solution, eliminating the need to maintain separate databases. All your transit communications – whether delivered through telephone, Internet, kiosk, wireless PDA, or digital signage – exist in one information system. By combining all media options into a single system, iEngine can automate the handling of up to 95% of inquiries. Your customers receive consistent and accurate information, no matter how it reaches them.

Patented IVR Technology
Ontira’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) automated transit information technology is protected by U.S. Patent No. 5,214,689, entitled “Interactive Transit Information System.” Our patent covers technology that enables callers to access transit information by responding to prompts and entering information on a touchtone telephone keypad. This patent ensures Ontira's proprietary DTMF (touchtone telephone signaling) and combined DTMF/Automated Speech Recognition-based automated information systems are protected by law.
Automated Speech Recognition
Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) represents the most natural of user interfaces available. Based on the latest VoiceXML technology, Ontira’s speech-enabled IVR systems allow users to retrieve transit information by simply speaking commands naturally into the phone. The ASR module recognizes spoken words and phrases, and responds by speaking back the appropriate information through Text-to-Speech (TTS). A number of Ontira’s solutions can be enhanced with speech recognition technology, including BusLine, HandyLine, and TripFinder.
Seamless Integration
Ontira systems integrate seamlessly with all major scheduling, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Mobile Data Terminal (MDT), and Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) vendors. Transit agencies have the freedom to build the best solution from multiple providers.
