Transit is all about getting from point A to point B. Ontira’s Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) solutions make this journey easier by automating the trip planning process. We provide transit users with a convenient way to plan their trips, without waiting to speak to a customer service agent or searching through pages of printed schedules and route maps.
Ontira’s TripFinder is a web-based application that interfaces with transit scheduling information to provide a powerful tool for the traveling public to access trip planning 24/7. Just enter where you are and where you want to go, and TripFinder does the rest. It generates full address-to-address itineraries, which can also be displayed on a dynamic map and optimized to user preferences like walking distance and number of transfers. Transit riders can then print the trip itinerary, which includes all the stops along the way, and refer to it during their journey. TripFinder also includes the capability for call center agents to access the same travel information when assisting customers one-on-one. TripFinder offers the ability for agents to e-mail, fax or mail the requested itinerary directly to the caller as well.
TripFinder can also be deployed over other media, such as Interactive Voice Response (IVR), Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and kiosk. Ontira is pioneering new standards in trip planning via IVR, as TripFinder supports multiple languages and was the first in the industry to provide Spanish speech-enabled trip planning. Powered by Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) technology, TripFinder allows callers to speak naturally into the phone to plan a trip. A caller simply speaks an origin and destination, which can be addresses, landmarks or intersections, and TripFinder generates an itinerary which is played back to the caller.
TripFinder is flexible and scalable to include multiple geographies, agencies and transportation modes. Therefore, it is well-suited for regional, inter-regional and statewide (511) applications.
