Ontira Communications Selected to Provide 24/7 Traveler Information to Las Vegas’ Paratransit Customers
VANCOUVER, BC - April 26, 2006 - Ontira Communications Inc. (OCI™) has been selected by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) to provide paratransit customers in Las Vegas with 24/7 access to automated traveler information in both English and Spanish.

Using Ontira’s patented HandyLine Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, paratransit customers in Las Vegas will be able to access their customer and trip information 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, without waiting to speak to a live agent. HandyLine will allow customers to perform a variety of tasks via telephone, such as confirming or cancelling scheduled trips as well as obtaining account information and providing the RTC with feedback about their services.

“By choosing HandyLine, the RTC will make significant strides in automating its transit call center and increasing capacity without adding staff. Customers will also benefit greatly from the convenience of a system that is available 24/7. The RTC’s confidence in our product demonstrates Ontira’s market leadership in the Automated Traveler Information Systems industry,” said Gerald Bachmayer, Director of Ontira Communications.

“After reviewing the alternatives available to us, we selected to work with Ontira due to their patented technology, long standing industry experience, and solid customer referrals,” said Mark Swaffer, Manager of Technical Services for the RTC.

Future enhancements planned for the system will allow customers to book new trips, use the Internet to access trip information, and sign-up to receive automated trip reminders and vehicle arrival estimates by telephone. The VoiceXML (VXML) based touch-tone system will also allow the RTC to implement Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) with minimal retrofitting. This will enable customers to interact with HandyLine simply by speaking commands into the phone. The technology is based on VXML, which is the industry standard for specifying voice interactions between a human and a computer.
