Ontira Launches PocketQuest Mobile Information for Paratransit Supervisors
VANCOUVER, BC - March 3, 2006 - Ontira Communications announces the launch of PocketQuest PTS, an application that provides “on-the-road” paratransit supervisors access to real-time vehicle and customer information on PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants).

This latest offering from Ontira was unveiled during the American Public Transportation Association’s TransITech Conference in Las Vegas from February 22 to 24, 2006. PocketQuest PTS displays real-time vehicle location and manifests on PDAs, using Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) and dynamic mapping capabilities. Paratransit supervisors also have access to detailed customer information, such as scheduled trips, pick-up/drop-off locations and registration information.

“PocketQuest PTS will transform the way paratransit supervisors manage their service area while away from the office. With real-time information at their fingertips, supervisors can respond more quickly to driver and customer needs, resulting in enhanced service levels and increased operational efficiencies,” said Gerald Bachmayer, Director of Ontira Communications.

PocketQuest PTS communicates directly with paratransit scheduling software to query a vehicle’s current manifest. It is also integrated with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data, which allows vehicle locations to be displayed on a map image of the local street network. Dynamic mapping capabilities also enable users to pan and zoom in a map of the service area.
