Richmond, VA Trip Planner goes live
VANCOUVER, BC, July 29, 2005 - The Greater Richmond Transit Commission (GRTC) has made web based trip planning available to the public. The new GRTC trip planner can be accessed at www.ridegrtc.com.
Ontira Communications performed the web extension of the existing GRTC call center based trip planner. This implementation was initiated in September 2004 and is based on the Ontira Map Engine. It did not require the creation of raster images which resulted in significant cost savings for the GRTC.
This represents the third time Ontira has web enabled an existing GIRO HASTUS trip planner. The other implementations were in CATS (Charlotte N.C.) in June 2004 – which subsequently received an award for excellence by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction – and OCTranspo of Ottawa, Ontario in August 2004.
