Ontira Awarded Las Vegas Trip Planning System
VANCOUVER, BC, January 3, 2005 - Ontira Communications has been awarded a contract to provide a web-based transit trip planning system for the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC).

Ontira will provide TripFinder, a web-based, multi-modal and multi-media transit trip planner powered by a state-of-the-art routing algorithm and dynamic mapping. With TripFinder, users plan trips by entering the trip origin and destination by typing an address, scrolling from lists of intersections and landmarks, by clicking an interactive map or by selecting from a personal set of stored addresses and trips. TripFinder instantly returns detailed trip plans to users including the length of the suggested trips, transfer locations and times, fares, route maps, and specific walking directions.

"Ontira was the successful contender for this contract because of their high level of compliance to RTC requirements and the additional features that TripFinder offers" said David Swallow, Senior Civil Engineer and Project Manager for the web-based transit trip planning system with the RTC. "Another key factor in RTC’s award was Ontira’s proven track record in system implementations for other transit agencies. RTC believes that TripFinder will improve the accessibility and convenience of RTC’s public transportation system".

The web based transit trip planner will be available to Las Vegas transit users in October, 2005.

Ontira Communications (www.ontira.com) has been providing multimedia information solutions to transit companies across North America since 1984.
