Ontira to Install BusLine in Santa Monica
VANCOUVER, BC - Ontira Communications will install BusLine, an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, in Santa Monica, California. Siemens Integrated Local Government Division (ILG) selected Ontira to provide real-time transit information over the telephone to Big Blue Bus users in Santa Monica.

Ontira's BusLine is a VoiceXML-based IVR system. Once installed, callers can speak natural phrases to look up route schedules, stop times, and general transit information. Callers will hear real-time information about delays and detours. BusLine will interpret commands and speak in English and Spanish. A traditional touch-tone telephone button interface will also be available to callers.

BusLine will communicate directly with Big Blue Bus's Trapeze FX scheduler software. Schedule data is automatically provided to the IVR system, reducing maintenance time required by Big Blue Bus staff. BusLine will communicate with the Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) software to provide real-time ride information.

Once implemented, Ontira anticipates that BusLine will handle over half of all calls placed to Big Blue Bus. Customer service will be improved by reducing time spent on hold, increasing agent availability, and providing more detailed transit information.
