Ontira Wins Multimodal Communications Contract in Tampa
VANCOUVER, BC - Ontira Communications has won a contract to install an automated telephone information system for Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) in Tampa, FL. The Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system will provide HART's call center with 24-hour ride information in English and Spanish, for both public transit, and paratransit van services for the elderly and disabled.
BusLine, Ontira's public transit information system, will allow HARTline passengers easy access to schedule information. Callers can find out next bus arrival times, look up schedules for later times, and access general fare and travel information without having to wait on hold for a live customer service agent.
HART's paratransit customers will be able to confirm and cancel their previously scheduled rides by telephone without operator assistance, thanks to Ontira's HandyLine system. HART has also contracted to purchase Ontira's Automated Trip Booking module to provide HART paratransit customers with even more efficient control of their ride schedules.
"Transit riders today expect access to information anytime, anywhere, and our products enable HART to meet those expectations in a cost-effective manner," explains Ontira director Gerald Bachmayer. "Since customer service agents typically handle heavy call volumes in peak periods, it makes sense to let regular callers use the automated system and bypass the wait for an agent altogether. HART staff can now spend more time with callers needing specialized assistance."
BusLine and HandyLine are integrated as one seamless system so that all HART passengers can reach their desired ride information from a single source. Installation of the new system will begin immediately.
Ontira Communications has been providing multimedia information solutions to transit companies across North America since 1984.
